Asian American Viewpoints

Another conversation with host, Mary Sit, and her Asian American Viewpoints podcast.

This episode, The Good, the Bad & the Ugly” provides a brief overview on my essay in the 2024 INDIE Award-winning book by the Missouri Historical Society Press, The Wonder and Complexity of the 1904 World’s Fair.

Our discussion touches on my research and insights as to why the local Chinese might not have gone or wanted to go to the World’s Fair, during a time when the Chinese were not looked upon favorably, an 1882 Exclusion Act was in effect…..and where some even had a bounty on their head. An intriguing era of complexities to those early Chinese pioneers and future Americans.

Thank you to independent podcasters like Mary who provide a platform and voice for independent, “Accidental” historians like me.
