The 2025 St. Louis Racial Equity Summit will be hosted by Forward Through Ferguson on August 8-9, 2025 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This will be Forward Through Ferguson’s fourth biennial St. Louis Racial Equity Summit.

Accidental Historian: Citizen Storytelling & Advocacy

This session will share how to become an “accidental historian” by being vulnerable, presenting their life experiences, and writing stories that relate to the public and their own community. Attendees will learn how to educate the public through storytelling and advocacy of history in St. Louis and beyond. The presenter will share how they’ve been able to educate communities about Asian American history, advocacy, xenophobia, and the existence of St. Louis’ lost Chinatown. The session will conclude with a call to action for attendees to become accidental historians, expand their understanding of “the other,” and thereby strengthen their commitment to community-building and solidarity across differences.
